Job Description
Schedule/Shift: Full-time, Mon-Fri, Days
Minimum Wage: $12.23
Department: Boise, Idaho Cardiology Associates, Jefferson

The Transcriptionist I is responsible for transcribing medical reports of a single-specialty nature. Medical language specialist who transcribes and interprets dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Completion of medical transcription course/program, or 6 months minimum experience with medical transcription.
2. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
3. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles ability to use designated reference materials ability to operate designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified ability to work independently with minimal supervision ability to work under pressure with time constraints ability to concentrate.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the medical legal implications and responsibilities related to the transcription of patient records to protect the patient and the business/institution. Utilize current medical terminology and reference books.
5. Computer skills with knowledge of word processing software.
6. Follow policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Transcription Department, AAMT Style Guidelines and SLMRC Transcription Guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Transcribe medical dictation to provide a permanent record of patient care.
2. Transcribe single-specialty medical reports.
3. Maintains a minimum productivity rate of 150 average lines/hour.
4. Maintains minimum accuracy rate of 95 .
5. Determine appropriate document report type formats consistent with current practices of dictation policy.
6. Operate designated word processing, dictation, and transcription equipment as directed to complete assignments.
7. Research routine questions with patient care documentation.
8. Copy and distribute medical reports.
9. Maintain written or electronic logs of work completed.
10. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent, sitting, twisting/turning from waist. Frequently moving objects horizontally left to right and vertically up and down up to 25 lbs. Occasional bending/stooping, climbing, kneeling. Occasional standing, walking, pushing/pulling objects on rollers/wheels. Frequent handling holding, grasping, working with hands , fine finger manipulation pinching, picking, working with fingers . Senses needed to perform the essential functions of the position. Frequent need to hear and talk in quiet/noisy surroundings and talk/hear with over the telephone. Vision for near/far acuity, depth perception, color vision. Touch for feeling size, shape, temperature, texture by finger receptors . Smell to determine hot/burning equipment.

Work Status:
Full Time (72-80 hours every two weeks)
