Post Procedure Care Unit (PPCU) is an fast-paced 8-bed progressive care unit that provides care for a variety of surgical patients such as: Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral Popliteal Bypass, and Cardiac interventional patients such as Angioplasty, Stent Placement, and Heart Catherization. This unit also provides care for stabilized post-operative open heart patients and critical care surgical patients. PPCU nurses are responsible for moving stabilized critical patients toward discharge. Some skills required to work on this unit are the ability to pull post interventional sheaths, arterial line monitoring as well as discharge teaching.
