Job Description
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) has an immediate opening for an intern. The Team 3 intern helps with tasks related to Government Affairs and Media Relations. This individual is expected to perform administrative tasks as well as writing, web updating, developing slides, scheduling meetings, and synthesizing information from Congressional hearings and briefings. This is an unpaid internship, with the expectation of at least 20 hours per week. Work hours are flexible.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

The intern will be responsible for supporting staff in government affairs and media relations projects. Work duties may include but are not limited to:

• Reviewing and editing documents and written materials.

• Drafting letters, testimony and other communications to Members of Congress.

• Attending and reporting on Congressional briefings and hearings.

• Assisting with identifying and posting relevant web-based resources.

• Creating and maintaining an online repository of resources.

• Developing and editing PowerPoint presentations.

• Summarizing and developing information for internal and external dissemination (e.g. NACCHO publications, electronic newsletters, and websites).

• Updating database of grassroots members and uploading lists via online software.

• Scheduling meetings with Congressional staff.

• Conducting Internet research.

• Providing other support to related projects as needed.


Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Graduate student in public health, health education, or related field preferred. (Currently in school or completed). Medium-level computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word required. Medium-level skills with Web editing preferred.
